The copyright minefield

I'll admit that I don't know much about copyright matters. But this story was a surprise. Apparently, you cannot copy music for personal use. Fair enough.

But what if you own a copy of the music in a different format and want to transfer it to another - for example from a CD to your MP3 player? Against the law.

At this stage, the music companies aren't chasing this, but whose to say that they won't get around to it eventually?
