So, I'm a librarian, or Information Officer, or Information Professional - what ever you what to call me. My role is the same - to get the relevant information to the people that need it, when they need it. Hence the title of this blog - Selective Dissemination of Information, or SDI.

I love the traditional librarian duties (cataloguing, classification etc) and I'm really excited by the new methods of dissemination (blogs, wikis, e-books etc). I'd like to use this blog to collect and think about all the new ideas in the field of information management. It's like everybody has suddenly realised how important it is, but is unable to connect it to the traditional role of librarians. This is what we do, no matter what the technology is. No matter what your job title may be, if your role is to organise, look after and help find information, you are a librarian.
